From Indy - Jane Savoie

Moshi challenged me to a race today. He’s a lot bigger than I am, so I’m not sure I want to race him. But, I figure he has a lot more weight to move, so perhaps I can beat him. I know in a short sprint I can win, but if we go a long way, he might have the advantage.

Would you enter a race if you were sure you were not going to win? I suppose it depends on why you are racing. I like to run, and I like to win. I would be happy to win a race with Moshi. But if I don’t, it will still be fun anyway because I like to run. I like to challenge myself. To not join in the fun simply because I don’t think I can win, would not be okay. I’m willing to try my best, challenge myself to do my best, and be satisfied with that. If I actually beat Moshi, then all the better. I like winning. But to not even try… well, then I lose before we even start.

Being competitive and striving to win is a great thing. But it’s not the only thing. Doing your personal best and enjoying the journey is the best thing of all. So join in! Give it a shot! Take a step! You’re only a loser of the game if you stay home and don’t participate.

Moshi and I are going to have our big race later this week. Check back next week and find out who won! I hope you’ll bet on me! I might surprise you!

Love, Indy
